Devlog 1 - Getting Started


Hello and welcome to Alt-Fire!

This video outlines what has been done in the game so far, and we hope you'll join us in the prototype's continued development.

TL;DW:

  • Player controller is feature complete, adding:
    • Movement
    • Mouse Look
    • Jumping
    • Double Jumping
    • Crouching
    • Dodging
    • Sliding
  • Pickups are partially implemented:
    • Health
    • Armor
    • Powerups (semi functional)
  • Interaction system is partially implemented:
    • Buttons
    • Triggers
    • Look At Objects
    • Movers
    • Doors
    • Lifts
    • Teleporters
    • Kickers
    • Crushers
    • Timers
    • Lights
    • Sound Cues

And this also marks the release of the first early pre-alpha demo for you to download and try!

Details on what the game is and its core gameplay is still in flux so I won't share that now, but once its more solidified there will be an update for sure.

Known Issues:

  • If you can't take pickups, restart the map. If the base of the pickup is also rotating its glitched out.
  • You can get out of several maps, while not intentional, go for it!
  • The slide tilts your camera for some reason, its unintentional and I'm working on a fix.
  • If you spawn with a gun in your hands, it is placeholder only. Nothing about it is functional. You can hide it with the [H] key.
  • Sometimes lifts don't work until you jump on them.
